Last week was an incredibly stressful week. I learned that bad things come together. It was like bundle of joy except it wasn’t joy. It started from last Thursday, when I returned to the lab from internship, there were multiple voice messages asking me where the power cable for the digital video camera. I borrowed the digital video camera from the department for my experiment, and I returned it couple weeks ago. Obviously, the guy tried to use the camera found out there was no power cable in the case and called me several times. Well, I was in the internship, so of course, it was too late when I got their messages. Of course, I did look for power cable after I got messages, but I couldn't find anywhere. I did not move the camera at all, and I was very careful about putting everything back in the case the last time I used it because the camera was kinda expensive ($3000!!). Only thing I could think of was Russ! He borrowed the camera from me, so he could take it to his wedding. When he asked me to borrow the camera, I told him I couldn't let him take it because the camera was not mine. So, I think he asked the department A/V person and got a permission to take it to his wedding. I even didn't know when he took the camera from my office. According to him, he never used it, so there was no way he could lose the cable. I had no idea where the cable was and I was very tired, so I left the lab thinking maybe I could search more following day.
When I got back to my apartment, I noticed something was weird. Although I was tired, I was trying to make it to the gym and come back before CSI. So, I grabbed my gym shorts and t-shirt on the dinning chair. Then, I realized they were wet. I was very very confused because they were sitting there for over a week. Then, I realized everything on the dinning table was wet including the books I just got from amazon.com! I was soooo upset because 1. I just bought them, 2. They were expensive (one book cost me $110!), 3. I was really excited to receive my books. I was trying to figure out why they were wet, so I turned on the light. Well, the light did turn on, but it was kinda dim. I was like "Huh?" and looked up. The light bulb part is covered with glass thing (you know old celing light, ugly!), and when I looked up, some brownish water was filled up glass cover! Eeeew! I was so confused and didn’t really understand what was going on. Then, I noticed my dish chair in the living room was also freaking wet! When I looked up, I saw water stained on the ceiling in the living room. Aw. This was my second time for water coming from ceiling extravaganza! Last year, water attacked my room because of broken radiator pipe from the upstairs. So, I thought maybe this was the same. Eh. But, after careful examination of my apartment, I found out that entire my apartment was wet, and water stained (the walls and celings) was everywhere! The bed room was the worst because the part of ceiling was actually falling down. Seriously, what’s the hell! I called the manager, and later we found out the guy living above me released the radiator valve (which is super ultra tiny and probably it took lots of effort for him to unscrew) before the manger guy turned on the heat. This caused overflow of water, and when the manager guy turned on the heat, all excess water flooded the pipe and ended up visiting my room. Eh! I was pretty pissed because he was living across the hall from the manger guy, so if he needed the heat on, he could just knock the door of manger guy instead of unscrewing tiny valve! When I visited this idiot’s room, he was obviously annoyed by my visit but kept a fake smile on. I asked him to pay for my damage (I only asked for the books!), and he was total ass. He said, “oh well, I didn’t know I shouldn’t open the valve. No one told me, so I think it’s the office’s fault. I will pay for your damage, but I will go after the office and get reimburse for it (fake smile). Just give me a list (fake smile again).” Aaaaaaassssss!! I mean what his parents taught him?? How to be an idiot? Geez!!
Anyway, I had a very stressful Thursday night, but of course, I still had to find power cable. I searched every corner of the lab in Friday morning, but I couldn't find it. So, I told A/V guy that I couldn’t find it and apologized. Then, he looked at me and said “well, when we rent you the camera, it was complete. But, when you returned it, it was incomplete. Don’t you think it’s your responsibility to make it complete?” I almost snapped. I know this was my responsibility, but I couldn’t find the cable, so what the hell I was supposed to do? And, thing is this guy just started working for the department from this semester, and he is just strange. His hair is forcefully combed, and he wears questionable clothes (really). And, this!! I almost gave him head butt, but I just told him I would look for more. I was pretty devastated by misplacing the power cable. I called Russ asking him to make contacts to anyone who had an access to the camera during his wedding. I was upset, but I had to go to the internship, which didn’t help me, calming down. Then, I received voice message from Russ that he found power cable!! Obviously, someone took out power cable and left it during his wedding or whatever. I wasn’t sure where the exactly he found power cable, but he said he will bring it on Monday. I was glad we found the cable, but at the same time, I was really pissed because everyone gave me really hard time accusing me losing power cable! Oh fuck everyone (especially, A/V guy)!!
I am going to make this week as enjoyable one!
