HSN and I

I love watching HSN. I don't know why, but I think it is really entertaining. However, I do not buy anything from HSN because well, they sell lots of stuff aiming at chunky ladies out there. But, it changed tonight. Throughout the day, HSN was showing the stuff hosts of HSN picked. So, of course, they were so fantastic! Tee-hee!! One thing I have always wanted to buy from HSN is Huggable Hangers. They look so good. This hanger can make double, yet, triple your closet space! But, I didn’t buy them. Instead, I bought Zorbees... Zorbees is another great invention for the cleaning solution! Well, kinda. OxiClean (a.k.a. stain specialist) guy was selling it, so it might be fantastic! I have no idea why I had to buy this, but I just had to. Also, I ended up buying bedding sheet set! Nooooo!! But, it was 400 thread count!! Now, I can have luxurious bed without spending hundreds of dollars! I also almost bought Wolfgang Puck food processor, but I was able to hold it. Phew...

Trauma and I

So, I have been playing Trauma Center: Second Opinion on Wii. We just happened to have this game in the lab, but since Wii was stolen, we cannot play it in the lab. Soo, I brought back for the weekend to play. Well, I must say, I hate this game! I hate the fact the game does not output for wide screen! Stupid. Also, I have to keep reading texts! No voice over! Well, some, but not really! Before the operation, the dude screams, “I will save this patient!” or “I won’t let you die” or something like that. Idiot! But, during the operation, the nurse is soooo annoying! She screams whenever something happens, “DOCTOR! Vital is low!” “DOCTOR!! Blah blah blaaah!” Grrrrrrrrr!! Soooo annoying! But, I kept playing for some reasons because this game is kinda fun! But, I wouldn’t buy it for myself though. I am still waiting for Pokemon Battle Revolution to come out... I am 30 years old PhD student, and I am looking forward to get new Pokemon game. Sounds like just about time to see a therapist eh?

Factory and I

Have you been to Cheese Cake Factory? I have. They server huge meal and gigantic “have some heart attack” dessert. I do not like Cheese Cake Factory, but some people think this restaurant is fancy! Ugh. I still remembered when I went there for the first time. I ordered some kinda salad, and it was huge! Bunny even cannot eat this much salad! I really think Cheese Cake Factory contributes to obesity epidemic in the U.S.!! If I have to choose between Cheese Cake Factory and Applebee’s, I would choose Applebee’s because I wanna be eating good!

My advisor is kinda forcing me to visit the lab at NYU. I guess that’s cool, but this lab actually rejected me when I applied! The director of this lab (super famous lady in the filed of child development) emailed me back saying she wasn’t taking any grad students that year. Well, she emailed me after I applied! I contacted her almost 6 months before I actually sent my application to NYU. And, then, she emailed me after I sent application… I mean just sending application wasn’t that bad, but, I had to pay close to $100 application fee! And, after I started my PhD here, I found out my advisor actually frequently visits her lab at NYU. Grrrrrrrrrrr! I still have a little bit of hard feeling toward her, but well, that would be super cool to visit there and ask about research they are doing. And, of course, free trip to NYC isn’t bad deal at all!!

Hanger and I

I bought Scrubbing Bubbles’ automatic shower cleaner several days ago. I didn’t think I would buy this kinda crap, but I did. I saw one at Marc’s apt, and actually, his bathtub and walls were pretty clean! And Marc kept saying “oh it’s awesome!!!” So, I got it. I was so excited getting this one. But, one critical component, hanger, was missing from the box… Without hanger, I couldn’t hang my cleaner on the wall!! I was pissed, really pissed. So, I called SC Johnson’s, a family company (bullshit!), customer service and was ready to fight getting my missing hanger.

Lady: “Thanks for calling SC Johnson, how may I help you?”
Me: “Ah, well, I bought automatic shower cleaner, and hanger is missing (with super “I am pissed!” tone)”
Lady: “Oh, I am so sorry, I’ll send it to you right away.”
Me: “eh? Oh, okay.”

I thought I had to convince them to get my missing hanger, but actually, the lady I talked was really nice (and she was native English speaker!). She told me I would be getting hanger about 7 – 10 days. But, I actually got it yesterday. SC Johnson was a family company... Keep up good work SC Johnson! But, make sure you put hanger next time!

Fork and I

I was working on my poster for the conference all last week. It was pretty painful, but I finally got approval from my advisor, and I was ready to print out last Thursday. Yay! But, printing my poster was freaking pain! For some unknown reasons, the size of poster was 2100mm h x 900mm w. Well, if I convert this to inches, 83 x 36. Well, well, 83 freaking inch is super high! And, it’s 36 inch width... What’s the hell?? Okay, so this conference will be held in Japan, so I guess that’s how Japanese do posters? Am I making poster or Japanese scroll?? I don’t know! But, anyway, I made my poster size accordingly, and brought up to the printing room, and printed it out. When it was printing, I noticed something. My experiment was simple coffee making (well, it’s science!!), and I placed several distracters, so naïve subjects get confused (well, kinda). Anyway, forks were one of distracters. So, I was checking out my poster coming from the big printer, and then, I saw the word “folks.” Folks?? I was a little bit confused, did my folks appear in my experiment? I don’t remember I put that in my poster. Yeah, I spelled wrong. I spelled “Folks” instead of “Forks.” I was like “Shhiiiiiit!!” It was super easy to fix it, but thing is I was almost done with printing, and poster paper I was using was not cheap at all (glossy nice paper). I don’t have to pay a dime to print poster, but still it took so much time to print out, I was like “oh fuck, who’s gonna read my poster!” Then, my advisor came in to the printing room, and asked me “did you print your poster? You spelled…” “Oh, I know,” I replied. I think I am gonna stick actual plastic fork on my poster, so at least, it will be funny.
